Can we write to the children at Rafiki Mwema?

Our children would love for you to write to them!

Please keep the package/letter small and only send plain packaging. Also please remember that if the parcel is too big Rafiki Mwema get charged on the other end to collect the parcel (if it cannot fit in PO box) and this can often cost far more than the item is worth.  We suggest no larger than an A5 size envelope.

In all cases please make sure the item is marked as having “no value” to ensure it makes it to Rafiki and puts a smile on the children's faces.

Our address is:

Why can't the Girls attend normal schools?

Some of the girls come to us for weeks or months, others come for years. All of them come because of the horror of sexual abuse. Because we care for our children as they go through the court process, many of them are not able to go out to attend school during this scary time. Sometimes this process can last years.

Their lives are always in danger if they leave the safety of our farm. If the family of the perpetrator knew where their accuser (our girls) was, there is a very good chance they could be murdered, as their evidence will put these evil men away for life.

What will my donation contribute to?

Funds raised via this campaign will contribute towards the long term and ongoing costs of Jasiri Rafiki School and all our children's educational needs.

Do you have an example of how to set up a page?

Is this campaign only for schools in Australia?

No! Anyone is welcome to join this campaign WORLDWIDE.  The donations are all taken in and show in Australian dollars and we are only able to offer a tax receipt to those who have made the donation within Australia.

Do you have a letter we can give to our school?

We sure do! Please download this word document here and print (and welcome to customise to suit you!) and sign and take to your school.  Please find any promotional material here that you are welcome to download.  You are also welcome to copy this wording below into an email below to your school.

To whom it may concern;

I have been made aware of the ‘Schools for my Rafiki’ campaign being run by three Australian mothers in Queensland, who are passionate about educating disadvantaged children. I am planning on setting up a team page for our school because I would love for us to be a part of this wonderful cause.

‘Schools for my Rafiki’ is raising money for an Australian registered charity called ‘Rafiki Mwema’. This charity operates in Kenya and provides safe housing and therapy for children that have been abused. The aim of this campaign is to raise money for the ongoing costs of a school that will be built within the Rafiki Mwema compound.

I believe that as an Australian, it is important for us to be aware of the extreme privileges we have including access to safe and substantial education and care. I would love for our school to be part of this wonderful cause and for the children at Rafiki Mwema to know and feel the love and compassion that we have for them. Please find more information about Rafiki Mwema and the Schools for my Rafiki campaign at

Please contact us if you do not wish us to fundraise on the schools behalf.

Kind Regards,
